Faith in Action 2004 –2005

A programme of activities based around the Religious Calendar and our core values. The aim of these events is to create a space in which individuals can explore their faith and spirituality.
Come and join in our events for 2004/2005, we provide a peaceful space at the edge of Milton Keynes in the village of Willen, close to the 17th C Church of St Mary Magdalene (built by Robert Hooke), Willen Hospice and the Peace Park. CALENDAR OF EVENTS

HOSPITALITY – OPEN TABLE

2nd April 7.30 PM – Friday Open Table at the Well, tonight we have a choice:
1. Part of The Road Ahead Programme of Events, Food & Faith at The Well
2. The MK LETNET Group, who we invite you to meet, talk to, trade with and perhaps join, looking at a more sustainable way of doing business.
COST – Donation for Supper only

EASTER

4th April – 9.30AM Palm Sunday All Age Service begins at the Well at 9.30am with procession to St Mary Magdalene, led by Rev Paul Smith, Liz Baker & Bill Cahusac. Liz is a member of the Well Community.
4th - 8th April 9.30PM – Holy Week Meditations in The Round Room every evening. Our theme this year is Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Led by members & friends off the Well Community.
9th April 8.30PM – Good Friday, after a simple vegetarian supper served in the refectory join us in the Workshops for Mediations on “The Stations of the Cross. Led by members of the Well Community.
COST – Donation for Supper only
10th April 7.00PM – All Night Vigil for Peace at the Medicine Wheel and The Round Room at The Well.
11th April 6.30AM – Dawn Service followed by cooked Vegetarian breakfast at the Well.
COST – Donation for Breakfast only
11th April 9.30AM – Easter Communion at St Mary Magdalene Church Willen. Led by Rev Paul Smith.

EASTER TO PENTECOST

21ST April 7.30PM – Wednesday, Praying the Directions, why not join us midweek for prayers in the North American Indian Tradition led by Sister Kate Holmstrom, Sister Kate is a member of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus at Bradville. This series runs every Wednesday from 21st April to 26th May inclusive.
You may also like to join us for supper, which is served at 6.30PM weekdays, please ring.

HOSPITALITY, AN OPEN WEEKEND AT THE WELL

30th April – 2nd May – Friday to Sunday come and Meet us, experience our community, meet the members, visit the house with its library and gardens and enjoy the unique hospitality of the WELL at WILLEN.
30th April 5.00PM – Earth Children Exhibition Opens, followed by Open Table at 7.30PM and a talk by Marcus Armstrong on his Earth Children Exhibition. Marcus is a member of the Well Community
COST – Donation for Supper only
1st May 10.00AM – Saturday Open Day, a chance to wander round the Well and discover all about us, Earth Children Exhibition, library open all day and refreshments and stalls.
6.00PM – Barbecue & Acoustic Evening, music and food in the Well Tradition.
COST - £5 (adult) for Barbecue & Acoustic Evening. (children free)
2nd May 9.30AM – Sunday All Age Worship, in the workshop, with the congregation of St Mary Magdalene, Willen.
12.30PM – Buffet Lunch, followed by a guided walk around Milton Keynes Peace Park with Willen Church & Hospice, the Labyrinth, the Peace Pagoda, the Buddhist Temple, The Medicine Wheel and of course Willen Lake.
4.00PM – Tea & Cakes, if you have room.
COST – Donations for Food Only.

SUSTAINABILITY – A ROMAN BANQUET?

Surprising perhaps but this is one of our fundraising events, sustaining our hospitality fund and helping to support out chosen charity Wells for India.
15th May 7.30PM – Saturday, Experience the taste and grandeur of Ancient Rome with genuine recipes adapted from ‘Apicus’. Come and enjoy the hospitality and entertainment of a Well Banquet, try a selection of delicious Gustatio, before tucking into your Primae Mensae and finishing with Secundae, wine will also be served with the meal. Toga’s optional. Baby sitting facilities available.
COST - £17.50 per person. Table for 6 people £90.

SPIRITUALITY – QUIET DAY

22nd May 10.30AM – Saturday, Listening to the Light, exploring Quaker Spirituality with Robin Baker, a member of the Well Community and Susan Sawtell, a member of the Neighbours Community, Northampton. A simple lunch of Soup, Cheese & Fruit is provided, the day finishes at approximately 4.00PM
COST - £10 PER PERSON.

PEACE & JUSTICE

4TH June 7.30PM – Friday Open Table, Peace & Justice Supper at the Well, organised by MK Peace and Justice & supported by the Well Community, speaker to be announced.

SPIRITUALITY

11TH June 7.00PM – Friday Open Table, a little earlier as tonight we have the Rev David Tatum from Christ The Cornerstone coming to talk to us about Bibliodrama.
COST – Donation for Supper only.
12th June 2.00PM – Saturday Bibliodrama Workshop, this 3 hour workshop led by Rev David Tatum is an introduction to Bibliodrama and a chance to try it for your self. Refreshments served.
COST - £15 per person.

TRINITY

?th 2.00PM – The Triune God an exploration of the Trinity, led by Rev Paul Smith, Team Vicar Stantonbury Ecumenical Parish the sessions ends at about 5.00PM. Refreshments provided.
COST - £5.00 per person

SUSTAINABILITY/PEACE & JUSTICE

18th June 7.30PM – Friday Open Table, a Vegan Feast prepared by Ronny
19th June 10.00PM – Vegan Cookery Day, cook & sample the authors delicious recipes. Ronny supports Veggies Catering Campaign
COST - £25 per person

2nd July 7.30PM – Friday Open Table, speaker to be announced.

SUSTAINABILITY – WORKING WEEKEND

9th July 7.30PM – Friday Open Table Barbecue
night at the Well (bring & share) followed by jam session, have some fun before:
10th July 10 – 4.00PM – Working Day come and help us the Well garden. Picking fruit, weeding etc. Simple lunch provided.
